Nowadays, everyone is looking to outsource if they can. Outsourcing allows you to tap a larger percentage of the workforce and it also allows you to find cheaper labor. One of the ways you can outsource is to find an online wedding planner. Wedding planners are in very high demand as everyone wants a perfect wedding, yet not everyone is as skilled at planning one. Should you outsource your wedding planning with an online wedding planner, though? Ask any bride or groom if they want to outsource their wedding planning with an online wedding planner and they’ll likely tell you no with a capital N.
What Are You Getting?
When you outsource something over the internet, you really don’t know who you’re dealing with. Anyone can type a resume and put it online to get business. What are the person’s qualifications? What were their past weddings like? Were the brides and grooms satisfied with the results? These are things you typically want to ask of your wedding planner and they’re not something you can easily verify with an online wedding planner.
Trust
A wedding planner must be trusted. A wedding is one of the biggest day of the two people’s lives; and sometimes it’s big to many more people. Nobody wants to think back on their wedding day with regret. That’s why most people will choose a wedding planner in their own town, someone they can physically talk to, rather than choosing an online wedding planner.
Taking A Chance
Of course, with the internet as popular as it is today, there are many things being outsourced this way. You can take a chance on an online wedding planner and you may be extremely satisfied. However, most people just don’t want to take a chance like that when it comes to this very special day in their lives. They want to see the flowers chosen, they want to sit down and discuss the bridesmaid dresses and the groomsmen tuxes, they want to sit down and discuss the entire affair so that everything goes on with a hitch.
Wedding planners are in high demand and they do cost a lot of money, but they usually get that money for a good reason. People trust them to come through for them, they trust that their weddings will be perfect and the truth is that most people aren’t going to pay all that money to, and put all that trust into, someone they’ve never met in person.

I agree with most of your points, the only thing I would mention is your assertion that “wedding planners…do cost a lot of money.” You do need to balance that against the idea that a wedding planner’s expertise will save you money by having novel ideas, creative suggestions, good relationships with excellent vendors, and volume discounts. One recent wedding we coordinated, I tallied up the dollar amount we saved the couple against what they would have paid had they planned it themselves and came up with close to $7,000. Our fee was less than half that. Plus, they had the peace of mind of having a coordinator, which they told us was “priceless”. So yes, while there is an upfront cost for a good wedding planner, if you choose well, you will get that entire fee back plus more in savings and avoided stress.
