Wedding Photography Tips

If you decide to hire a professional wedding photographer, you may be wondering where all of the money is going that you intend to pay them. You may also want to know how much it costs to have professional wedding photography done.  Here is how the money gets divvied up when paying off these individuals.

Maybe you’ve heard of candid photos, which is a fancy way of saying regular pictures which are taking at both the wedding and reception.  These are usually put into albums.  These types of photos are usually put together not only for the couple themselves but also for the parents and some of the attendees.  Albums are a significant cost consideration when having pictures taken.

Some of the best wedding albums are made by companies like Capri, Leather Craftsmen, and Art Leather, which may runs several $100 but are damage proof.  The pictures and the styles are permanently attached and the albums themselves are made of leather and will last a lifetime.

So why exactly should you go out and purchase such expensive albums when vinyl ones can be had for a much less expensive price?  The answer is that vinyl will eventually damaged the photographs even if it takes over a decade.  If you’re serious about preserving your wedding memories it is a good idea to go for a very expensive model of wedding album which will preserve a photographic record of your wedding forever.

A low cost alternative that you may want to look into art digital albums, and now photos can be printed right on an album’s page, so the wedding photographer does not have to go to ridiculous expense to purchase expensive albums when more can simply be created digitally.

The portraits themselves, such as those of a bridal portrait, also factor into wedding photography costs.  In the South, bridal portraits will usually be taken about a month before the wedding starts.  Some people also opt to have the engagement portraits taken, and usually the two expenses involved with this are the sitting fee and that of the portrait itself.

So what is a sitting fee? This is usually a charge that will cover the photographers time and print charges are the fees that are assessed to have a picture developed.  So how much does an average wedding photographer cost?  Usually their fees are around $1500, but if you live in a rural area your costs may be less, as opposed to an area like DC, where a professional photographer may charge upwards of $4000. Keep in mind that you will almost always get what you pay for, but try not to go overboard. A professional photographer for under $1500 will usually do you just fine.
