A cheap wedding reception can be a whole lot of fun

Let’s face it, a wedding can be a starchy, formal affair. More of an ordeal for the bride and groom than a happy event. Why not make the slow down in the economy work in your favour. Let your hair down and save some money as well. Don’t think ‘cheap wedding reception’, think party. The secret is to plan well in advance and to know what has to be done. It will work best if your friends and family are buy into the idea. You will need their help.

Does anyone have a large enough house to host the event? If not, can you find a cheap local hall? Asks the guests to bring food or drink instead of a wedding gift. Not knowing what will turn up adds to the fun and it can work out really well. How about one tier of traditional wedding cake and the rest chocolate chip. Bake it yourself or buy from a supermarket. Do you know anyone who has taken a cake decorating class?

There are lots of ideas around for decorations that you can put together cheaply. They don’t need to be anything too grand. Hop onto your PC and put together a few CDs of good dance music. You are all set set for a good old easy going party. You will be able to relax and have fun, and maybe think about your extra special honeymoon with all the money you have saved. Cheap wedding receptions are likely to become much more popular as the recession bites.
