Buying a second-hand wedding dress
The wedding dress is one of the most exciting, but also most stressful things that need to be bought. There are so many wedding dresses out there, and that isn’t including made-to-order dresses. Wedding dress shops have a monopoly, and they are also very expensive places to shop! The problem being that they are the first place most brides-to-be go to look.
There is a lot of money to be saved in this area if you are willing to shop cleverly, and while many people will cringe and shriek “second hand?? my wedding dress?? not likely!” stop for a second and consider this – the dress has only been worn once, probably only for a few hours so it’s not really second hand in the sense we all think of second hand, slightly worn out and a little musty. The savings you can make buying used wedding dresses are phenomenal, and more and more people are catching on to the fact that there really isn’t much point having their wedding dress sitting up in the attic gathering dust when it could in fact make up to half its original value back. Most pre-owned wedding dresses will have been dry cleaned by a specialist and wrapped carefully to protect it from the attic dust, and if you are really lucky and find you have the same size feet as the person you are buying from you might bag some low cost wedding shoes as well. It doesn’t have to be the wedding dress that is a bargain, if you really want a brand new dress, then think about putting the bridesmaids in pre-worn dresses? Again, you will find people who have a beautiful set of bridesmaid dresses, cleaned and gathering dust, sometimes even with matching ,cheap wedding accessories, who are willing to sell them on for a fraction of the price.
A second-hand wedding dress of course won’t be tailor made to fit you perfectly, however that is no reason not to buy it, espeically if you are making a huge saving, wedding dress alteration specialists can work wonders and make the dress fit beautifully and you will still make a saving on the price you would have paid for a new dress.
